We are seeking a hydrologist with comprehensive experience in flood frequency analysis, FEH Handbook methods and proficient in the use of modelling packages such as ReFH2 and WINFAP and other hydrological methods, such as continuous simulation when applied to flood mapping projects.

Other tasks include:

An ability to confidently apply statistical approaches, tools and techniques in the analysis of rainfall and river flow datasets
To lead on the application of climate change projections to support flood hazard analysis and mapping
The development of guidance to support customer use of our products and services
A passion for developing and mentoring staff

Respect for your expertise

This is a highly important role within our Data, Evidence & Innovation portfolio, which means you’ll need:

Degree in appropriate scientific discipline or equivalent experience
Extensive experience in flood frequency analysis and FEH Handbook methods, with strong proficiency in hydrological approaches, including continuous simulation for flood mapping projects
Good professional experience in the application of hydrological methods including the application of climate science to flood flow estimation and design
Effective technical project management skills, with experience of mentoring and developing staff
Experience in guidance development and proficient user of GIS
Full UK Driving Licence as driving is essential to carry out the role
